SILVANUS – Integrated Technological and Information Platform for Wildfire Management (Presentation of 3 Pilots)

SILVANUS project has the privilege of hosting a 2-hour online webinar as part of the EU Green Week 2022.
The key output of the H2020 SILVANUS project is the release of a climate resilient forest management platform to prevent and suppress forest fire over the course of 42 months. This will be achieved through the integration of a big-data processing framework capable of analyzing various data sources such as climate models and weather data, earth observation sources, fire ignition models, and continuous interpretation of multi-spectral video streams. Weather data analytics using satellite sources will serve as a basis for on-site device integration, while calculation of fuel available and weather data will be utilized to model fire behavior.
SILVANUS project innovations will be systematically demonstrated and validated across eight EU Member States (France, Italy, Slovakia, Greece, Czechia, Portugal, Croatia, and Romania). Additional demonstrations will also be carried out across Indonesia, Brazil, and Australia.
The webinar will focus on the introduction and the objectives of the SILVANUS project, along with the demonstration of three pilots in Italy, Portugal, and Indonesia. The presentations will show a versatile group of pilots that focus on different areas and various infrastructural challenges (impact of extreme wildfire on local population, electricity and water supply).
